Privacy Policy

Effective 1 January 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how Ubuntu Academy (Pty) Ltd. ("we", "us") collects, uses and shares personal information when you visit our website or buy our courses.

1. Information we collect

  • Account and order data: name, email, phone, purchase history.
  • Payment data: processed by our payment provider; we never store full card numbers.
  • Usage data: pages visited, features used, device, browser and IP address.
  • Support communications: messages you send us and our replies.

2. How we use your information

  • Provide course access and customer support.
  • Process payments and prevent fraud.
  • Improve our courses and website.
  • Send transactional emails (receipts, access details, service updates).
  • Meet legal obligations.

3. Third-party processors

We share limited data with trusted providers to run our business:

  • Payment processing — to accept payments securely.
  • Email delivery — to send transactional and support emails.
  • Cloud hosting and database — to host the site and store your account.
  • Analytics — to understand aggregate site usage, with respect for privacy.

Every processor is contractually required to protect your data and use it only for the purposes we specify.

4. Cookies

We use essential cookies for site functionality and, with your consent, optional cookies for analytics. You can manage your cookie preferences in your browser settings.

5. Data retention

We keep your account and order data while your account is active, and for a reasonable period afterwards to meet tax, accounting and legal obligations. Support communications are kept for up to 24 months.

6. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete or export your personal data, or to object to certain processing. Email privacy@ubuntuacademy.co.za to make a request.

7. International transfers

Your data may be processed in countries other than your own. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards (such as Standard Contractual Clauses) for international transfers.

8. Security

We use industry-standard security practices — encryption in transit, access controls and regular reviews — to protect your data. No transmission method is 100% secure, but we work hard to keep it safe.

9. Children

Our Services are not directed at children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect their personal data.

10. Changes

We'll post any material changes here and update the effective date at the top of this page.
